Cattle Fever Tick Situation Report

The Monthly Cattle Fever Tick Situation Reports are a collaboration with USDA, APHIS, the Texas Animal Health Commission and USDA, ARS.  Monthly reports are submitted to the USDA, APHIS, Veterinary Services, Cattle Fever Tick Eradication Program main office in Laredo, Texas, by program assistants from each county office (Del Rio, Eagle Pass, Webb, Zapata, Starr, Hidalgo, and Cameron Counties plus reports from Incident Command Posts (ICP) set up to respond to tick outbreaks.

These reports include counts of quarantined premises in free and systematic areas and of native and Mexico origin apprehensions. The Texas Animal Health Commission contributes similar data from counties with quarantines. A count of tick sample submissions is also included. These combined agency data are compiled at the Laredo Main office, tables are updated with current monthly counts, and maps indicating the current active infestations are submitted by ARS. The Cattle Fever Tick Situation reports are posted at the Texas Animal Health Commission website https://www.tahc.texas.gov/animal_health/feverticks-pests/FeverTickSituationReport.pdf  and provided on the TickApp to expand availability of this important information.
